Disability Respresentation
Our dedicated team of disability specialists will represent every disabled patient through all levels of appeal. This team of attorneys, paralegals and disability specialists helped over 4,100 patients secure disability benefits last year alone.
Every patient we interview is screened for disability. Once a patient’s answers to our screening are entered into Darwin that patients receives a disability score. If that score indicates potential disability, the disability unit immediately takes over and begins to work with the patient on the disability application.
SSI is not enough. SSI is an entitlement program for low income blind, aged or disabled citizens and provides the facility with the much coveted DSH days. SSDI can provide working citizens who are disabled with insurance benefits to help cover medical costs. SSDI gives the patient both income and health insurance and is frequently a key factor to getting Medicaid patients qualified.
A strong eligibility program will assist patients with SSDI even where the patient is not Medicaid eligible. Of course, the patient benefits greatly from this service as they now have a source of income and after being disabled for two years, they are Medicare eligible. The hospital also has significant benefit. Most disabled patients are frequent users of health system resources and getting them moved to Medicare coverage even a year down the road is extremely helpful. But don’t forget about the community benefit. These outreach services can contribute to your annual community benefit reporting.
