What it does: Helps hospitals match uninsured and underinsured hospital patients with health care programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and Cobra. Customers include acute care hospitals on the East Coast and in the Midwest. Why it’s growing: The number of people without health benefits has increased significantly during the past few years. To keep up with demand, CEO Kevin Groner developed sophisticated Web-based software that determines whether patients are eligible for government assistance based on information such as age and income. Doing good: In 1992, Groner joined the Peace Corps with his wife and spent two years doing community development in Papua New Guinea.
